Objects I choose in this series are based on the awareness of nostalgia. I believe nostalgia plays an important role in how people relate with vintage items. Over time everyday items make the transformation from ordinary to collectable. They are elevated to a high status and become a piece of art themselves. Often nostalgic items will encourage the viewer to relate using personal memories or experiences and I find this makes the painting interactive and engaging. The nostalgic items that appeal to me are usually simple items but possess great American cultural significance. These are items that demand close observation in order to correctly
