Conroe Art League 7th International Show in Conroe, TX - March 5th to April 1st, 2022
Making it's first public appearance, "Cafe" has been accepted to the Conroe Art League 7th International Show. 558 entries from 29 states, and for the first time, international entries from East Java, Japan and South Korea. The entries have been judged and over 60 artworks are invited to compete for the financial awards and to exhibit in the Conroe Art League’s Madeley Gallery. Cincinnati Art Club's ViewPoint 52 Art Show at Art Design Consultants - Sept.11th - 24th, 2020
Finally making it's public debut, Royal Empress will be on display at Viewpoint 52. It's a quick two week show, but will feature 100 works by national artists in various mediums. ViewPoint 52, 2020 will have an open house which is open to the public at Art Design Consultants, 2124 Madison Road, Cincinnati, Ohio 45208 on Friday September 11th from 11AM to 5PM and Saturday September 12th from 1PM to 5PM. The exhibition will continue through September 24th . Hours Monday through Friday 11AM - 5:00PM; Saturdays 1PM to 5PM. A variety of awards will be given: First Place - $3,000; Second Place - $1,000; Third Place - $750; plus additional cash prizes, and more. Texas National Competition and Exhibition 2020 - April 25th - June 12th, 2020
Stephen F. Austin State University presents the 26th annual juried competition and exhibition provides emerging artists an opportunity to have work juried by Annette Lawrence, Professor of Art, UNT. 41st Annual Whitewater Valley Art Competition in Richmond, IN - Oct. 18th - Dec. 13th, 2019
Originating in 1978, the Whitewater Competition has a history of “open judging”, allowing the public to be present when the exhibit entries are accepted or declined for the exhibit. In this spirit, projected, digital images of entered works will reviewed by a panel of three jurors during a four hour session. Intervals in the judging will be scheduled for the public to interact with the panel with regard to rationale related to acceptance or declination of works. Jurors will select 50-55 works for the exhibit. All art submissions will be juried electronically.

I have been accepted into the 11th biennial National Art Exhibit in Punta Gorda, Florida. I have two pieces in the show, "Remembering Iwo Jima" and "Happy Drinking bird". The exhibit opens to the public on Feb. 2nd. The opening reception will be held on Feb. 8th at 7pm. There is no charge for participating artists and one guest. "High Definition" - Solo Show at Thomas McCormick Gallery - March 17th to May 6th, 2017
Join me on March 17th from 5-7pm for his second solo show at McCormick Gallery. I will have eleven paintings for this new display titled “High Definition”. The subject matter for the show will range from WWII items, to rock n’ roll records, to candy bars, but all paintings will follow the basic theme of nostalgia - and as the title suggests, each piece is rendered to the smallest detail. If you are unable to attend the opening, the show will be on display until May 6th.

Hard to Believe : Visual Illusions of Reality in Bridgeport, IL Aug. 19th - Sept. 30th, 2016
Nine artists who have been accepted into Bridgeport Art Center’s annual art competitions over the past four years, including several award-winners, will be part of an exhibit of hyper-realism. These artists create paintings and drawings that are so skillfully representational that it is difficult to distinguish them from photographs. The exhibit naturally raises questions about the effect of photography on fine art, the definition of “realism” in art, and why such art is so popular. My painting Faithful Nichols has been selected for yet another competition! This time it will be in Cincinnati. Below are some details about the show.
This year, of the 375 entries submitted, the Entry Jury selected 90 outstanding works to hang in the show. Our Awards Juror, Robert Hagberg, will judge the awards in person after the show is hung. All award winners will be presented with a specially commissioned plaque manufactured by the Rookwood Pottery Company, in honor of the Club’s 125th Anniversary.
Also, due to the anniversary, we hope to make the Opening and Awards Reception a special occasion this year! We hope you will be able to join us Friday, October 2, 6:00 - 9:00 PM.

Biennial Quad State Exhibit at Quincy Art Center in Quincy, IL - July 18th to September 19th, 2015

Luminarts Cultural Foundations 2015 Visual Arts Competition at the Union League Club Chicago, May 12th, 2015
I am once again accepted as a finalist at the Luminarts Cultural Foundations Visual Arts Competition. There were around 400 applications this year and only about 30 were chosen to be finalists. Five finalists will be awarded $5,000 grants on the night of the reception, May 12th 5:30 - 7:00pm. I will be displaying two paintings in the show, "Remembering Iwo Jima", and "Walked in Lincoln's Steps". Also, as last year, the event will be held at the Union League Club of Chicago. This is a one night show, so May 12th will be the only chance to see it. The event is open to the public however, The Union League Club does hold a strict "no jeans" dress code policy.

Bridgeport Art Center's 3rd Annual Art Competition in Bridgeport, IL - February 28th to April 5th 2015
I'm excited to be a part of the Bridgeport competition again. Two years ago I met gallery owner Tom McCormick through this show, who now represents my work. I also won 2nd place by showing my small candy bar painting, "Miniature Unwrapped". This year I will be displaying my much larger "Red Ryder".

This exhibit includes creative reflections on the aesthetic qualities of food, art that addresses the dynamic debate about the political, economic, and social dimensions of food production and consumption, and art that focus on traditions surrounding food or how we use food as a rich form of cultural communication.

I was at the Northern National Art Competition reception in Rhinelander, Wisconsin this Tuesday. To his surprise there was a blue ribbon next to his painting! He won the Award of Excellence!
